Japanese Speech Presentations by International Students (8/5)

August 18, 2015

International students in Yamagata University gave the speech presentations in Japanese on August 5, 2015.

Students in Japanese Language Courses (Intermediate Japanese 1 & 2) from Peru, Germany, Latvia, the US and Taiwan first gave their speech presentations. They talked about various topics; traditional festivals in their home countries; personalization of the non-human characters in Japan and Taiwan; Japanese laws regulating labor hours and the solutions to reduce unpaid overtime work in Japan.

Students in Japanese Studies Program from Poland, China and Finland followed, presenting their close observations about a popular Japanese animation and the classic literature such as the Japanese Treasury of the Ages written by Saikaku Ihara and Po Chu-i's Collected Works, which was widely read during the Heian period.

It was a great opportunity for international students to improve the speaking and presentation skills and to communicate in Japanese with their audience through question-and-answer sessions.
