Hiroyuki Yamamoto, the Consul-General of Japan in Khabarovsk, Russia, made a courtesy visit to President Kiyohito Koyama on 10 August, 2015.

The visit was arranged with the objective to discuss on the academic exchange agreement between Yamagata University and Buryat State University, Russia. Consul-General Yamamoto and President Koyama exchanged opinions on deepening of exchanges between the two institutions by accepting more students from Buryat State University through short-term programs. They also talked about the possible support to increase the number of Japanese books available in Buryat State University so that students can learn more about Japanese culture and language.
