If you pursue an academic degree in an undergraduate or graduate program at YU, you will be classified as a regular student. If you and wish to transfer to YU after graduating from a two-year college, you can do so by being enrolled as a junior at Faculty of Literature and Social Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture or Department of Nursing at Yamagata University.
If you are not pursuing an academic degree at YU, you can be enrolled as a special auditing student (i.e. an exchange student), non-degree study student or research student for up to one academic year. Special auditing students are those enrolled full-time at our partner institutions outside of Japan who come to study at YU for a semester or a year. Tuition and fees are usually exempted at YU, the host institution, which is subject to each exchange agreement. Non-degree study students are those who pay tuition and other fees to take undergraduate or graduate courses for academic credits. Research students are those who wish to be enrolled either to do research at the undergraduate or graduate level, or to attend to receive language training for a semester before admitted to a graduate school as a regular, degree-seeking student. Research students at the undergraduate level are required to possess Bachelor’s degrees whereas those at the graduate level need to have their Master’s degrees in hand.
