【授業の目的】
In this class, students will develop their overall communicative ability with an emphasis on listening. In addition to listening tasks, other communicative functions such as speaking and writing will be included to develop overall skills.

Students at this level can generally understand basic dialogue if it si spoken clearly and slowly.

【授業計画】
・授業の方法
Basic classroom methodology will be used to create an English-speaking environment in class for 90 minutes. Examples and new vocabulary will be given but the onus will be on the student to communicate in English within their pair or group.

Some of the topics that will be covered include:
1. Step communication.
2. Listening dictations.
3. Note taking.
4. Questionnaire making and report making.
5. Group presentation.
6. Individual presentation.

Websites and further study ideas will be explained during the first class.
【成績の評価】
・基準
Grades will be assessed on the scores of the individual points below. Basic listening skills are required for the dictation listening tests. Basic writing skills are required for the group report and the written test. Basic language skills are required for both presentations.
・方法
Listening tests: 3% (x8) = 24%; Individual presentation: 28%;
Group report and presentation: 28%; Written test: 20%
*students missing 1/3 of classes will automatically receive a final score of ‘0’.
