“English Communication Skills A” focuses on English speaking/writing activities. Through this class you will gain confidence in using English.

【授業計画】
・授業の方法
Classes will be taught in lecture style with heavy focus on group activities. Each week, you will practice using English through a variety of activities.
・日程
At the beginning of the semester we will have a general orientation. You can select which English class you want to attend (English Communication Skills, English for Science and Engineering, Basic English).
In English Communication Skills I, we will practice English communication through a variety of fun activities such as group work, reading books and watching movies. There will be a short vocabulary quiz once every two weeks and a writing assignment due every week without a vocabulary quiz.
【学習の方法】
・受講のあり方
You are expected to actively participate in class each week and to complete every homework assignment. Additionally, you are required to take the TOEIC test in June.
・授業時間外学習へのアドバイス
Please study for vocabulary quizzes and complete homework assignments once every two weeks in alteration.
【成績の評価】
・基準
Your grade will be evaluated based on class participation, homework, vocabulary quizzes, TOEIC test result and a final exam.
・方法
Grades will be calculated in the following fashion:
Homework: 20 pts.
Short quizzes: 20 pts.
Class participation: 20 pts.
TOEIC: 20pts.
Final exam: 20 pts.

English learning can be fun! If you really want to improve your English skills, you should try using it in your daily life – watch movies in English, read books in English, or just try to talk to your friends in English. You can also join the English activities at the Faculty of Engineering International Center such as English Lunch Chat, Movie Night, and Board Game Night. Studying English can be fun, let’s try some interesting ways to improve your English in this class!
