Nursing Based on Pathophysiology

My research focuses on aging, age-related diseases, and oxidative stress. In particular, I am investigating the mechanisms underlying pressure ulcers—skin injuries believed to be partially caused by ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury—and exploring effective strategies for their prevention and treatment.

Through my studies, I have found that pressure ulcers tend to worsen in aging model mice, that oxidative stress increases significantly after reperfusion, and that free radical scavengers may suppress oxidative stress and reduce tissue damage. I aim to apply these findings to clinical practice to improve care for elderly patients.

In addition, I am collaborating with researchers from other universities on the development and implementation of human patient simulators that can accurately replicate physiological responses during nursing care procedures. This research seeks to enhance nursing education by providing effective and efficient training methods, with the goal of developing nurses who are ready to contribute immediately in clinical settings.

As a university faculty member, I am committed to advancing nursing through research, translating research findings into clinical practice, and fostering the next generation of nurse researchers.
