【授業概要】
・テーマ
English (R) aims to help students improve their reading skills.
・到達目標
By the end of course, students will improve basic skills necessary for parsing logical sentences containing plain vocabulary. They should be able to understand the gist of sentences containing common vocabulary whose content covers various topics, such as society, culture and everyday life. They should also be able to understand essays and newspaper articles on familiar matters which contain common vocabulary.

【授業計画】
・授業の方法
In this class students will work in groups, and have no constrains in the topics they will talk in between class exercises as long as they do so in English.Class exercises will be completed cooperatively, so as to create a relaxed environment that facilitates learning.Additional materials on academic topics will be provided to practice learned skills.There will be a different topic each week of increased complexity. This is a student-oriented intermediate level class.

Week 15: Exam 2 (test).

【学習の方法】
・受講のあり方
Students are allowed to speak with their group mates in English on any topic. Japanese conversation is allowed only to clarify class related issues.Phone calls are not allowed. However, messages can be briefly checked, in case there is an emergency.
・授業時間外学習へのアドバイス
Reference materials for self-study will be suggested.Practicing with these material can improve students performance in class.

【成績の評価】
・基準
Evaluation will be based on a 100 points scale, later translated into a categorical scale (S, A, B, C, F). Students must attend 2/3 (10) of the classes in order to receive credits.
・方法
TOEIC 20%, Exams 50%, In-Class quizzes 10%, Class participation 20%.
