【授業の目的】
In this class, students will develop their overall communicative ability with an emphasis on listening. In addition to listening tasks, other communicative functions such as speaking and writing will be included to develop overall skill.

Students at this level have very little difficulty understanding common everyday conversation. Students can understand reasonably long utterances about basic issues if spoken slowly and clearly.

Students will perform a variety of listening tasks.
Typically, students will work in groups of four often changing partners.
Most listening will be short, descriptive passages.

【学習の方法】
・受講のあり方
Students will take an active role in their own learning by observing their strengths and weaknesses. As well, students should set achievable goals concerning listening tasks.
・授業時間外学習へのアドバイス
Students must check vocabulary and perform all written assignments before coming to class.
Students should try to listen to a variety of materials outside the class.
(Ex. radio, news, music, podcasts, TED talks, Youtube, etc.)
【成績の評価】
・基準
Students will be assessed on their preparation, class participation, and ability to complete listening tasks successfully. Attending a minimum of 10 classes is mandatory and those who fail to do so will be given 0 points for the course.
・方法
Homework, quizzes, class participation 50%. Midterm 25%. Final 25%.
