In this class, we will study to improve not only your reading and listening skills in English, but also your speaking and writing skills.

D-1．演習、実習、実験等を行う機会がある。：51～75％
C-2．事前学習（下調べ、調査等含む）をした上で、プレゼンテーションを行い、互いに質疑応答や議論を行う機会がある。：1～25％
【科目の位置付け】
Course to help students acquire basic international communication and discussion skills
【授業計画】
・授業の方法
Students are required to read and discuss trending issues every week.
Students are also encouraged to learn the proper way to pronounce English words for effective English communication.
Additionally, you will write an essay on each topic.
・日程
1st class: Introduction
2nd-14thclass: to read and discuss a topic, to practice English pronunciation, and to write an essay
15th class: Final exam
Besides discussing trending issues, we will conduct various activities to improve your English skills including the presentation
of your essays.
【学習の方法・準備学修に必要な学修時間の目安】
・受講のあり方
You are expected to actively participate and speak up in class.
・授業時間外学習（予習・復習）のアドバイス
You are supposed to read aloud the topic a week after we discuss it in class.
To read naturally you must practice over and over again through audio files uploaded on webclass.
You also need to practice reading your essay with correct pronunciation in preparation for your presentation.
【成績の評価】
・基準
Your grade will be evaluated based on actively speaking in class, writing an essay, presentation, final test, and TOEIC score.
・方法
Grades will be calculated in the following fashion:
Reading with correct pronunciation: 20 pts.
Writing an essay: 20 pts.
Presentation: 20 pts.
Final Exam: 20 pts.
TOEIC: 20pts

Do you get nervous when you speak English?
Although we have learned English for many years, we still get tense before we try to communicate with someone in English.
Through this class, I hope to help you feel more relaxed and confident in your English. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes!
