【授業の目的】
This course will focus on developing your overall English ability. Through this class, you will gain confidence in using English.

【授業の到達目標】
The goal of this class is for you to improve your English vocabulary and especially to advance your English speaking/listening skills.The entire course is centered around SDGs.Familiarity with SDGs and the associated vocabulary will be beneficial.

A-1.ミニッツペーパー、リフレクションペーパー等によって、自分の考えや意見をまとめ、文章を記述し提出する機会がある。:26~50%

D-1.演習、実習、実験等を行う機会がある。:76~100%

Course to help students improve basic English skills, focusing especially on listening and speaking.
Students will become familiar with vocabulary relating to SDGs.

【授業計画】
・授業の方法
Classes will be taught with a focus on pair and group activities.
You will practice English communication through a variety of activities such as group work and debates/discussions.
・日程
The beginning of each section will provide you with vocabulary relevant to a certain SDG. You will then do some reading about that SDG. In pairs or small groups, you will then discuss some comprehension questions and before discussing some topice related to the SDG. There will also be chances to practice your listening ability.

【学習の方法・準備学修に必要な学修時間の目安】
・受講のあり方
You are expected to actively participate in class each week and to complete every homework assignment.There will be occasional vocabulary tests.
Additionally, you are required to take the TOEIC test in June/July.
・授業時間外学習(予習・復習)のアドバイス
Please study for vocabulary quizzes and complete homework assignments. Read up on SDGs and find interesting facts for your presentations.

【成績の評価】
・基準
Your grade will be evaluated based on class participation/presentations, assignments, short quizzes and TOEIC.
・方法
Grades will be calculated in the following fashion:
Assignments: 25 pts.
Short quizzes: 25 pts.
Class participation/presentations: 30 pts.
TOEIC: 20pts.

Learning any foreign language can broaden our horizons and give us a fresh way of thinking about our lives. Studying about SDGs is particulary relevant to life now. We will think about our own values and the goals of SDGs.Regardless of where you end up working, a better understanding of SDGs will be beneficial. At the same time, you will improve your English ability and get to know your fellow students more.Try watching some of your favorite You Tubers in English or listen to podcasts of interest in English.There are many foreign students on campus, who will appreciate a new friend.
