【授業の目的】
In “English for Science and Engineering A,” we will learn fundamental scientific vocabulary as well as practicing English through activities.
【授業の到達目標】
The goal of this class is for you to learn some basic scientific vocabulary and to improve your confidence in using English. A TOEIC score of approximately 450 points or higher is recommended (but not required) for attending “English for Science and Engineering”.

【授業計画】
・授業の方法
Main focus of this class is to learn useful scientific vocabulary. This is the Engineering Faculty, so we will focus on keywords useful for your future in science and engineering. Main goal is to improve your confidence in using English as well as improving your vocabulary.

TOEIC will not be the main focus of this class.
【学習の方法・準備学修に必要な学修時間の目安】
・受講のあり方
You are expected to actively participate in class each week and to complete every homework assignment. Additionally, you are required to take the TOEIC test in June/July.
・授業時間外学習(予習・復習)のアドバイス
Please study vocabulary and complete all homework assignments. In addition, try to use English in your daily life, especially in activities that you personally enjoy (games, books, movies...)
【成績の評価】
・基準
Your grade will be evaluated based on class participation, assignments, short quizzes, TOEIC and examinations.
・方法
Grades will be calculated in the following fashion: Assignments: 10 pts. Short quizzes: 20 pts. Class participation: 20 pts. TOEIC: 10 pts. Mid-term test & final exam: 40 pts.

English learning can be fun! If you really want to improve your English skills, you should try using it in your daily life: watch movies in English, read books in English, or just try to talk to your friends in English. You can also join the English activities at the Faculty of Engineering International Center such as Daily English Conversation, Movie Night, and Board Game Night. Studying English can be fun, let’s try some interesting ways to improve your English in this class!
