To improve students’ English vocabulary, grammar, listening and reading skills, and obtain sufficient English ability for the TOEIC.

To improve students’ basic English skills to the point required at the university level, and also to improve students’ TOEIC score.

A-1．ミニッツペーパー、リフレクションペーパー等によって、自分の考えや意見をまとめ、文章を記述し提出する機会がある。：1～25％
B-1．学生同士の話し合いの中で互いの意見に触れる機会がある。：1～25％
C-1．自分の意見をまとめて発表する機会がある。：1～25％
A-3．習得した知識を活用する中で、学生自身がテーマや目的などを主体的に定めて課題探究型学習を行い、その成果を記述する機会がある。：1～25％
【科目の位置付け】
It is required to attend at least one English class during the second year
at university. You can choose from Basic English Skills, English Communication Skills, and English for Science and Engineering. Basic English Skills is the
course to help students acquire basic English communication skills and improve
their TOEIC score.

【授業計画】
・授業の方法
Classes will be taught in lecture style. Pair work, group activity and
presentation will be also adopted if necessary.
・日程
The first class will be an orientation.
In Basic English Skills A, each class will be divided into two parts. The first part is for basic skills such as vocabulary, news & topics and conversation.
The latter part is for practical skills of listening and reading, mainly for TOEIC.
There will be a short vocabulary quiz every week. The students are required to take the designated TOEIC-IP test in July. There will be a final exam at the end of the semester.

・受講のあり方
Students are expected to actively participate in class each week and prepare for TOEIC.
・授業時間外学習（予習・復習）のアドバイス
Students are supposed to prepare for each lesson and review what they have
learned carefully. They should also study for the vocabulary quiz at home.
【成績の評価】
・基準
Students’ grade will be evaluated based on class participation and activities,
assignments, vocabulary quizzes, the TOEIC score, and the final exam.

Your grade will be calculated as follows:
Class participation and activities: 20
Assignments and vocabulary quizzes: 20
TOEIC-IP score: 30
Final exam: 30
