The overall goal of this course is to improve students practical English communication ability in all four skills.
【授業の到達目標】
The goal of the course it to prepare learners to interact successfully and confidently with other English speakers while studying abroad. Each lesson will include practical real world content that learners are likely to encounter while studying abroad. The course content will focus on the four skills of speaking, reading, writing and listening. At the end of the course, students should have greater confidence to use English in a practical way in a wide variety of contexts.

・授業の方法
Students will spend 3-4 classes focusing on each of the four skills: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. A variety of communicative tasks will be provided, such as information gap tasks, as learners will generally work in pairs.

【学習の方法・準備学修に必要な学修時間の目安】
・受講のあり方
Students will focus on the provided task handouts each week. For writing and reading, learners will work individually. Speaking and listening tasks will take a more collaborative exchange of information approach involving pair or group work.
・授業時間外学習(予習・復習)のアドバイス
Students should bring a dictionary and notebook.

・基準
Grading is based on:
a) class participation b) acquisition of knowledge c) level of comprehension d) level of overall skills (e.g. critical thinking)
・方法
Quizzes/papers: 80% Participation: 20% (e.g. volunteers, in-class conversation role plays etc)
*Students who miss more than 1/3 of class will automatically receive a “0” for the final score.
