【授業の目的】
Student’s overall practical English abilities will be developed while putting emphasis on listening comprehension and speaking fluency.

【授業の到達目標】
Students can speak extensively about their own personal experiences using a wide variety of expressions. Students have very little difficulty understanding common everyday conversation and can understand reasonably long utterances about basic issues if spoken slowly.

【学習の方法・準備学修に必要な学修時間の目安】
・受講のあり方
Communicative Language Teaching methodology will be utilized to create an English-speaking environment where students will learn to communicate by using English in the classroom.
・授業時間外学習(予習・復習)のアドバイス
An estimated amount of time to be spent on preparation and review of each lesson will be 1 hour a week.

Grades will be determined based on the criteria below. The midterm and final evaluations will consist of timed pair and group conversations with a focus on communicative fluency.

*You will receive a failing grade if you do not attend at least 2/3 of the classes.

【テキスト・参考書】
There is no required textbook for this class, but a good electronic dictionary is highly recommended.

E-learning software has been chosen to support TOEIC  preparation as part of English 1 studies. This study software offers practice and learning in all fields of English language study, including vocabulary, expressions and grammar. We suggest continued progress, completing a few lessons on a weekly basis.

・学生へのメッセージ
This is a practical communication course with a focus on developing fluency. Students are expected to participate in an all-English environment and are encouraged to try their best and not worry about making mistakes. In this class successful communication will be more important than always being grammatically accurate.
