Student’s overall practical English abilities will be developed while putting emphasis on reading comprehension and grammatical knowledge.

Students can understand familiar everyday topics written and spoken in simple English. Students can express their opinions with simple words and phrases in speech and writing.

This class will be conducted face-to-face. The class is discussion-based. Students will read articles on a topic, think about the topic, discuss the topic with their classmates, and write a reaction on their discussion with their classmates.

【学習の方法・準備学修に必要な学修時間の目安】
・受講のあり方
Topics will be discussed between students. Topics will be based on articles provided by the instructor. Work consists of written preparation, comprehension quizzes, discussions, and a written reaction on the discussion.
・授業時間外学習（予習・復習）のアドバイス
Preparation time is around one hour per week. It includes reading the article and writing answers to discussion questions.
【成績の評価】
・基準
As this is a discussion class, you must make an effort to communicate in class. Also, you may be failed if you do not attend 2/3 or more classes.
