Agricultural Mechanization in Japan has been underway in its own course.Rice
production in Japan had been decreased drastically in the wake of World
War II .To deal with this difficult situation in which fewer farmers had
to increase rice production,Japanese government enforced the Agricultural
Mechanization Promoting Law in 1947.Since then agricultural mechanization
in particular for rice cultivation has been underway and ended up with
very state-of-the-art two machines, a rice transplanting machine and a
head feeding combine harvester.I give two lectures on Agrocultural Machinery
in Japan in the historical perspective, one for Mechanization of Rice Cultivation
and the other for Post Harvest of Rice. |
Message to Students |
Rice has been a staple food in Japan since the dawn of the civilization
in Japan. Although the life style change after the defeat of World War
II resulted its rice consumption per capita decreased to almost half that
of just after the war ended during past 60 years, rice is still main part
of Japanese diet.Japanese farmer has been treated rice as precious commodity, and
many researchers and manufacturers poured their effort into making up machinery
system for rice cultivation.I will show you sophisticated machinery system
in Japan as a consequence of their blood, sweat and tears. |
