Class Outline |
This course serves as an introduction to the history of Meiji Japan (1868-1912).
The subjects of inquiry include major historical events, figures, modes of
thought, and cultural/social trends that characterize the Meiji Era as a unique
epoch in Japanese history. By participating in the course, you will learn the
basic vocabulary and concepts that are necessary to examine the Meiji Era as
modern Japan's most formative years. The final exam requires you to construct
your own historical narrative of Meiji Japan. |
