This course will introduce the basic Japanese communication concepts and
compare them with American communication tendencies. This course lies within
the field of Intercultural Communication and is meant to be a practical
approach for the American or Japanese sojourner. The course will try to
address the following questions: Why is it useful to compare differences
anyway? How can we communicate effectively with someone from another cultural
background? How does our cultural viewpoint affect our communication behavior?
Finally, why is it more difficult to communicate with someone from another
culture even if they speak a common language? |
