The present situation of Japanese media organizations and their Western counterparts and problems involved will be discussed from a more practical point of view based on the matters raised in the previous lecture.
The students participants will have a detailed explanation about relations between Japanese mass media and the authorities, and the government's information handling policy.
They will join an on-the-job training, taking a firsthand look at Japanese journalists' news gathering and reporting.
The participants will also be briefed on the moves among U.S. and British media organizations after the 9/11 incident, compared to Japanese ones.
