The 2015 Entrance Ceremony Was Held (4/6)

The 2015 Entrance Ceremony was held on Monday, April 6, at Yamagata Prefectural Gymnasium. Yamagata University welcomes a total of 2,284 students this year; 1,747 at undergraduate level and 497 at graduate schools, and 40 at the Special Course for School Nurses. YU also welcomes 23 international students to the YU campuses.

At the ceremony, President Kiyohito Koyama gave the welcome address and extended words of congratulation and encouragement. "Yamagata University is the community with 9,000 students, 3,000 faculties and staff, more than 100 thousand alumni, parents and families, and local residents gathering together to enhancing each other's value. We will make all the efforts we can in order to respect each and every one of you and to be a student-centered university. Please be confident, plan your campus life, enjoy yourself and expand and grow as a person. Your life will change depending on what to study, what to feel, and who to meet at Yamagata University. Please keep on looking forward, outward, and upward. When you confront difficulties, sadness and loneliness, please share your feelings with your friends, your faculties and YU staff. Please enjoy your life, even including tough situations, and keep on moving forward." He closed his speech wishing that the campus life of all the incoming students will be truly satisfying.

Ms. Moeko Omiya of the Faculty of Medicine, the incoming class representative, made a speech expressing the joy of entering Yamagata University and aspiration for campus life ahead.

Ten recipients of Yamagata University YU Do Best Scholarship were awarded by President Koyama, and the representative Ms. Ayumi Saito made an acceptance speech. She thanked for the generous support they received, and encouraged the incoming students to challenge what they want to try as Yamagata University will assist those who try hard and make sincere efforts.

After the ceremony, YU school song was sung and Hanagasa (flower hat) dance was performed by the Hanagasa dance circle Shimensoka.
