Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand and his delegation visited the Yonezawa campus (6/27)

H.E. Mr. SINGTONG Lapisatepun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand and his delegation visited Yonezawa and inspected the University's international research centers, Research Center for Organic Electronics, Yamagata University Business Starting Center for Organic Material, and Smart Future House on June 27, 2023,

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. Mr. SINGTONG Lapisatepun, visited Yamagata prefecture on June 26 to attend the general meeting of the Yamagata & Thai Friendship Association (Secretariat: The Shonai Bank Ltd.). The Ambassador's visit was realized as part of an industry-academia cooperation agreement between Yamagata University and The Shonai Bank Ltd, on the 27th, the day after his visit, to serve as a bridge in a wide range of fields, including industry, with the aim of promoting exchange between Japan and Thailand.

Prior to the visit, President Hidetoshi Tamate welcomed the guests to Yonezawa during lunch and introduced the collaboration between Yamagata University and the Kingdom of Thailand in a wide range of fields including medicine and agriculture.

Afterwards, Prof. Mitsutoshi Kuroda, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, welcomed the guests to the Research Center for Organic Electronics, where Prof. Hiroshi Ito, Vice Dean of the Faculty, introduced the collaboration agreements and joint research achievements with universities in Thailand, as well as the activities of those who have received their doctoral degrees from Yamagata University.

What is more, Prof. Akihiro Nishioka introduced about the research exchange utilizing agricultural resources and students from Thailand who are enrolled in the doctoral course gave a presentation on their research.

After that, Prof. Takeshi Sano gave an explanation about the Smart Future House, followed by product introductions from companies in the prefecture that are currently expanding into Thailand, and presentations and lab tours from Yamagata University start-up companies that are hoping to expand into Thailand in the future. 

During the exchange of opinions, Professor Tatsuhiro Takahashi, who was in charge of overall arrangement of this visit, sent a message that Yamagata University would like to play an active role as a producer in the wide range of Japan-Thailand cooperation, and the visit was meaningful in deepening understanding of cooperation between Yamagata University and the Kingdom of Thailand.
