Press conference held in Peru on September 24!

On September 24, 2024 (Tuesday) at 7:00 AM Japan time (September 23, 2024, Monday at 5:00 PM local time in Peru), a press conference was held at the Japan-Peru Cultural Center in Lima, Peru. 

This conference was organized in conjunction with the publication of an academic paper detailing new discoveries about the Nazca geoglyphs, with Professor Sakai as the lead author, in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), which was released globally at the same time. Approximately 15 local journalists attended the conference, and after the presentation, they posed questions to Professor Sakai and his colleagues.

Additionally, on the same day at 10:00 AM, another press conference regarding this content was held in the first conference room on the third floor of the Yamagata University Main Building in Yamagata City, Japan. President Hidetoshi Tamate and Dean Takashi Morioka of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as the director of the Institute of Nasca, attended in person. Professor Masato Sakai, Vice Director of the Institute of Nasca, visiting Professor Akihisa Sakurai, and doctoral student Jorge Olano from Paris 1 University attended online.
