● Yamagata Univ. and TNO Holst Centre conclude a comprehensive partnership agreement in 13, Nov 2024.
●Yamagata Univ. has established itself as an international research and development basement for printed and flexible electronics. In 2013, it opened the Organic Electronics Innovation Centre and has been promoting open innovation for over a decade.
●TNO Holst Centre, established in 2006, aims to commercialize printed and flexible electronics. It collaborates with approximately 60 partner companies worldwide and has been promoting open innovation for approximately 20 years.
●In the future, Yamagata Univ. and TNO Holst Centre will collaborate to advance printed and related technologies, in the meantime, promoting the importance of sustainable electronics both domestically and internationally, and driving global innovation forward.
(Collaboration details and achievement)
Currently, printed and flexible electronics are being elevated to sustainable electronics, led by Europe, in response to the trends of zero emissions and carbon neutrality. To find the collaboration opportunities, between TNO Holst Centre and Prof. Tokito(Yamagata Univ.) regularly mutual visit and exchange of opinion.
This year, utilizing JETRO's support tools, Yamagata Univ. invited four researchers and leaders from the Netherlands to participate in a Japan-Netherlands joint workshop. The workshop highlighted the importance of sustainable electronics needed to 'create the electronics of the future' and aimed to strengthen collaboration between Netherlands and Japanese companies, institutions, and researchers.
(Future Developments and Next Steps)
Yamagata univ. will serve as a bridge between TNO Holst Centre and Japanese companies, institutions to drive global innovation. We will expand our collaboration across a broad range of areas, from fundamental academic research to applied research development, researcher exchange, and human resource development, with a core focus on sustainable electronics.
