Japanese Government (MONBUKAGAKUSHO:MEXT) Scholarship for JAPANESE STUDIES STUDENTS
There are the international students who are the Japanese governmental (MEXT) scholarship recipients and studying in order to deepen their understanding of the Japanese language, Japanese affairs and Japanese culture.
Applicants must be undergraduates at foreign (non- Japanese) universities majoring in fields related to the Japanese language or Japanese culture.
You can apply in one of the following two ways.
【Embassy recommendation】
Candidates are selected at the Japanese Embassies in the students’ countries of origin, and the final
selection is made by the MEXT from among the recommended candidates.
【University recommendation】
Candidates are recommended by Yamagata University’s student exchange partner universities.
They are screened by Yamagata University, and recommended to the MEXT. The final selection
is made by the MEXT from among recommended candidates.
