一年間の山形大学への留学が終わってから、既に一年半が経った。その一年半の間に、ライデン大学の日本学科コースを卒業し、東アジア専門の大学院コースに入学ができた。現在はまだその大学院コースに頑張っているところである。
授業は英語で行われている授業と日本語で行われている授業に分かれており、両方は高級レベルの言語能力が必要不可欠であるが、山形大学に一年間を過ごしたお陰で、問題なく付いて行ける。先生によると既にJLPTのN1レベルさえ超えたそうである。秋になれば、卒業論文を書く始め、2022年に卒業する予定である。
勉強が忙しくない時は、山形に住んでいた時から変わらず、アウトドア活動をしている。とは言え、残念ながらオランダは山がないため、山形大学の登山部のメンバーであったのに、山に行けない。それで、登山以外の理由もあるが、登山するためにも、また日本、山形に帰りたいと偶に思っている。

It has already been a year and a half since I finished　my one year exchange program at Yamagata University. During said year and a half, I graduated from the Japanese studies course at Leiden University and was able to enroll in a graduate course specializing in East Asian studies. At the moment I am still working away at said graduate course’s requirements.

Classes are divided into those taught in English and those taught in Japanese, both of which require high-level language proficiencies. Thanks to spending a year at Yamagata University, however, it is smooth sailing for me. According to my current teachers, I have exceeded even the JLPT N1 level of Japanese language proficiency. This fall, I will begin writing my thesis and I hope to be able to graduate in 2022.
When I am not busy studying, I am doing outdoor activities, this has not changed since I lived in Yamagata. Unfortunately, however, because there are no mountains in the Netherlands, I cannot go mountaineering even though I was a member of the mountaineering club at Yamagata University. I also have other reasons, but also for the sake of mountaineering I find myself occasionally thinking I would like to go back to Japan, to Yamagata.
